Foreign Bodies in the Eye

From dust and debris to metal shavings or glass, professional removal is critical to prevent infection and corneal damage.

Chemical Burns

Immediate irrigation followed by medical attention is vital to neutralize chemicals and minimize damage.

Blunt Force Trauma

Injuries from impacts, falls, or sports accidents can cause hidden damage that requires thorough examination.

Corneal Abrasions

Scratches to the eye's surface can be extremely painful and prone to infection without proper care.

Eyelid Lacerations & Injuries

Tears or cuts to the eyelid require careful attention to prevent infection and ensure proper healing.

Subconjunctival Hemorrhage

While often harmless, it's important to rule out more serious underlying issues with professional evaluation.

Don't Wait: Why Timely Eyecare Matters

An eye injury, no matter how minor it seems, can have serious consequences if not addressed promptly by a qualified eyecare professional. Delaying treatment can lead to permanent vision loss or chronic discomfort. Our team is equipped to provide immediate diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of ocular traumas, protecting your precious sight.

What to Do (And What Not to Do) in an Eye Emergency

While you should call us immediately, here are some general guidelines for specific eye injuries. Always prioritize calling our office first for personalized advice.

  • For Foreign Bodies: Do NOT rub your eye. Try blinking repeatedly or flushing with clean water. If the object remains, do not attempt to remove it yourself.
  • For Chemical Burns: IMMEDIATELY flush the eye with plenty of clean water for at least 15-20 minutes. Do not rub your eye.
  • For Blunt Trauma: Apply a cold compress gently to reduce swelling, but avoid pressure on the eye.
  • General Advice: Do NOT attempt to remove an embedded object. Do NOT apply pressure to the eye. Avoid rubbing or touching the injured eye.
