Dr. Diane L. Fabery - Optometrist

Dr. Diane Fabery graduated Magna Cum Laude with an undergraduate degree in biology from the State University of New York College at New Paltz. In 1995 she earned a Doctorate in Optometry from the State University of New York, College of Optometry. Dr. Fabery joined Northwest Eye Associates in 1995.

Dr. Fabery has been an active member of New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians and American Optometric Association and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometrists in June 2011.

Dr. Fabery currently resides in Northwestern New Jersey with her husband and three daughters. In her free time, she enjoys camping and various outdoor activities and is active in the Girls Scouts as a Co-Leader and First Aider. Dr. Fabery values all aspects of family eyecare and interacting with her patients.

Dr. Fabery is scheduled for patients primarily at our Stanhope, Sparta and Branchville offices.

Dr. Lisa Ruffle - Optometrist

Dr. Lisa Ruffle grew up in Basking Ridge, NJ before moving to Northwestern NJ. She earned her Bachelor of Science in biology, along with minors in French and Chemistry, at Sweet Briar College in Virginia. She then continued on to complete her Doctor of Optometry at State University of New York College of Optometry.

Dr. Ruffle’s clinical training included ocular disease management, pediatrics primary care, primary care for children with special needs, and vision therapy for strabismus (eye turn), binocular disorders (eye teaming), and accommodative disorders (eye focusing) at SUNY’s clinic in Manhattan. She also trained in hospital-based optometry at the Lyons Veterans’ Administration Hospital and the East Orange Veterans’ Administration Hospital in NJ.

Dr. Ruffle and her husband are very happy to be raising their growing family in this beautiful area of New Jersey. In her spare time, Dr. Ruffle enjoys horseback riding, hiking, canoeing, and camping.

Dr. Ruffle is scheduled for patients primarily at our Sparta, Blairstown and Califon offices.

Dr. Elena Martinez - Optometrist

Dr. Elena Martinez graduated from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida before moving back home to New Jersey.

Dr. Martinez was clinically trained in ocular disease management, contact lenses, pediatric primary care, binocular vision disorders, vision therapy and low vision at NSU’s clinic in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She also completed two internships while in South Florida focusing primarily on ocular disease and primary care.

In her spare time, Dr. Martinez enjoys reading, relaxing at the shore and spending time with family.

Dr. Martinez is scheduled for patients primarily at our Stanhope, Branchville and Sparta offices and si, ella habla Español (yes, she speaks Spanish).

Dr. Bernard A. Mullin - Optometrist

Dr. Bernard Mullin completed undergraduate studies in Biology at Wagner College, and then completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at the State University of New York College of Optometry in Manhattan in 1985. He joined Dr. Tim Johnson and Dr. Jeff Clauss in practice soon after graduation.

Dr. Mullin became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 1990 and a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry in 2011. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and is also a member of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians.

Dr. Mullin is scheduled for patients primarily at our Blairstown and Califon offices.

Dr. Marc P. Otto - Optometrist

Dr. Marc Otto graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. He then earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2013.

Dr. Otto has extensive experience in ocular disease management, binocular vision disorders, contact lenses, corneal refractive therapy and cataract co-management. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians. His past volunteer work includes a mission trip to Peru and providing vision screenings for the Head Start Program at inner city schools in Philadelphia. He is passionate about diligently working to help all his patients with their individual eyecare needs.

Dr. Otto is excited to call northwestern NJ home after relocating here from Colorado. He especially enjoys spending time with his wife, two children and their mountain dog. His interests outside the office include playing competitive hockey, hiking, camping, fishing, and snowboarding.

Dr. Otto is scheduled for patients primarily at our Califon, Stanhope and Blairstown offices.

Dr. Smita Govilla - Optometrist

Dr. Smita Govilla graduated from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Spanish. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from SUNY College of Optometry with Beta Sigma Kappa Honors and a microcredential in Vision Rehabilitation.

Dr. Govilla completed a Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation Residency in Manhattan through the Dr. Irwin B Suchoff Residency Program, which emphasized the diagnosis and management of binocular vision anomalies (general binocularity, eye movement deficits, and strabismus) as well as visual perceptual disorders. She has also had significant clinical experience in pediatrics, ocular disease, acquired brain injury, children with special needs, and myopia management.

Outside of Optometry, Dr. Govilla enjoys tending to her houseplants, hiking, reading, and spending time with her cat Charlie.

Dr. Govilla is scheduled for patients primarily at our Sparta office.

Dr. Jeffrey F. Clauss - Optometrist

Dr. Jeffrey Clauss graduated Magna Cum Laude from Upsala College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and earned a Doctorate in Optometry in 1981 from the State University of New York in Manhattan. He started a solo practice in Sparta and then opened a second office in Branchville in 1984. Forming a business partnership with Dr. Tim Johnson, who retired in 2012, they combined their four solo offices and opened a fifth office together in Califon in 1985.

Dr. Clauss is a member of the American Optometric Association, the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians, the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and the International Sports Vision Association. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Clauss has a special interest in relational database programming and business systems.

Dr. Clauss and his wife enjoyed raising their three sons in beautiful Northwestern New Jersey. Outside of the office his interests include camping, canoeing and kayaking and has been active with the Boy Scouts serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor.

As CEO of Northwest Eye Associates, Dr. Clauss is primarily responsible for the oversight and operations of our five office practice.
